Background of the Study
In the digital age, mobile application design plays a pivotal role in shaping user experience and determining customer satisfaction in banking. Heritage Bank has invested in redesigning its mobile application to create an intuitive, user-friendly interface that simplifies financial transactions and enhances overall user engagement (Adeniyi, 2023). The redesign efforts focus on incorporating modern design principles, personalized dashboards, and seamless navigation features that cater to the diverse needs of its customer base. By integrating customer feedback and data analytics, the bank continuously refines the app to address usability issues and improve performance (Ikechukwu, 2024). Research indicates that a well-designed mobile application not only improves user satisfaction but also drives customer retention and loyalty (Chinwe, 2023). However, challenges such as ensuring cross-platform compatibility, addressing security concerns, and accommodating varying levels of digital literacy remain. This study will examine how the design of Heritage Bank’s mobile application enhances the user experience by analyzing user behavior metrics, feedback, and performance data. The aim is to identify key design elements that contribute to a superior user experience and to propose improvements that can further enhance digital banking engagement.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the recent redesign of its mobile application, Heritage Bank continues to face challenges in delivering a consistently positive user experience. Some users report difficulties navigating certain features, while others express concerns about the app’s performance on older devices (Emeka, 2023). Additionally, the balance between aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency remains a challenge, as overly complex designs can overwhelm users and reduce usability. These issues may lead to lower adoption rates and diminish the benefits of digital banking, ultimately affecting customer satisfaction and loyalty. The study seeks to determine whether the current mobile application design meets user expectations and to identify specific design elements that require further optimization.

This study focuses on Heritage Bank’s mobile application over the past two years, using user surveys, app analytics, and performance data. Limitations include variations in device compatibility and differences in user digital literacy.
